Dr. Assaf Ya’akobovitz from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (Israel) will be the speaker of the Aachen Graphene-Flagship Seminar on November 6th, 2019.
Dr. Ya’akobovitz will visit the Aachen Graphene and 2D Materials Center as part of his grant from the GIF Young Scientists Program. This is a program from the German-Israeli Foundation for Scientific Research and Development (GIF), which helps young scientists in Israel and Germany to establish first contacts with potential counterparts in the other country
Dr. Ya’akobovitz has gained his PhD in mechanical engineering from Tel-Aviv University. He was a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan, and in the Department of Materials and Interfaces at the Weizmann Institute of Science. He is now the head of the NEMS/MEMS and Nano-Materials Laboratory at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. His research interests include the physical characterization of 1D and 2D materials and the engineering of M/NEMS devices.
In his seminar, he will present the recent results of his group in characterizing the electrostatic and electromechanical behavior of vertically aligned carbon nanotubes and graphene foams — some of the most exciting nano-materials known today. The seminar will be at 12:00 noon, in the Physikzentrum, room 28A301. The abstract of the seminar can be downloaded here.
